The Herries Range Wind Farm team has concluded its Public Notification for the Herries Range Wind Farm Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP). The notification opened on 17 January and closed on 22 February 2024. The intention is for ACCIONA Energia to develop a Cultural Heritage Management Plan (CHMP) pursuant to Part 7 of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act 2003 (Qld) (ACHA).

The CHMP explains how land use activities can be managed to avoid or minimise harm to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cultural heritage. CHMP guidelines can also assist in working out a suitable structure for a plan, and a way of carrying it out in consultation with nominated First Nations groups from the region. Discussions with groups who expressed an interest are currently underway.
