Bird and Bat monitoring

14 April 2025

Our environmental consultants have concluded the first season of bird and bat monitoring. Last week you may have see them moving around the area again doing monitoring activities for the next season of reporting. They will also be back out again between 30 April – 4 May.

For the bird surveys, they will survey the surrounding landscape with binoculars and record bird species and activity. They will also collect weather data with a portable weather meter.

For the bat surveys they will install echolocation monitors on the project site. Each monitor records ultrasonic sounds between dusk and dawn which are later run through a specialist computer program that identifies which bat species are present.
