Students visit Mortlake South Wind Farm

12 March 2024

For the second year in a row, Mortlake College students learned about the growth of renewable energy and enjoyed a visit to the Mortlake South Wind Farm

17 Year 9 students, accompanied by two teachers from Mortlake P-12 College, embarked on an excursion to the Mortlake South Wind Farm. The group had an enjoyable day learning and seeing how an ACCIONA Energia wind farm operates.

Before visiting the site, Mortlake P-12 College students learned about renewable energy sources from Dominic Luddy, Stakeholder and Community Engagement Manager, and Sara Church, Site Administrator at Mortlake South Wind Farm, gaining insights into its generation in Australia and the transition from fossil fuels.

The students had lots of questions to ask about renewable energy and wind farms. One student volunteer even donned technician work gear!

Students were really keen to hear more about the grants that ACCIONA Energía offers to local students from Year 12 – an opportunity to look forward to in just a couple of years.

ACCIONA Energia is looking to expand its school tour program this year - feel free to reach out if your school would like to visit Mortlake South or one of our other wind farms.
