MacIntyre Wind Farm mobile phone tower switched on

21 March 2025

Mobile phone reception for farmers and residents in the Karara and Cement Mills areas has been boosted with a new, permanent 4G Telstra tower now switched on at the MacIntyre Wind Farm.

The 4G tower was required to support the wind farm operations and the temporary infrastructure has now been replaced with a permanent mobile tower. We invested an additional $500,000 to enable public access to the tower, permanently closing a local mobile blackspot.

We understand the importance of connectivity in regional areas and we know this mobile phone blackspot has been a long-running issue for farmers and residents in the area.

This new mobile phone tower will give locals better digital connectivity and phone reception, which will be particularly important during severe weather and emergencies.

Our team is proud to be part of this community and is pleased to contribute to a legacy of improved local connectivity and communications for everyone in the region.

Telstra and Amplitel built and installed the $2.5 million tower for ACCIONA Energía and the permanent infrastructure has now been switched on.

Construction at the MacIntyre Wind Farm is almost complete and commissioning activities are underway, with the site expected to become fully operational in late 2025.
