Gunning Wind Farm celebrates small grant and scholarship recipients for 2025

29 May 2025

ACCIONA Energía, the largest 100% renewable energy company in the world, has launched a new round of funding through its 2025 Gunning Wind Farm Small Grants and Scholarship Program. This year, 12 local organisations and two university students will share in more than $55,000 to support a variety of community-focused initiatives.

Now in its 15th year, the program has contributed over $550,000 in grants and shared benefits since its inception, reinforcing ACCIONA Energía’s long-standing commitment to regional development.

To honour this year’s recipients, ACCIONA Energía hosted a celebratory morning tea at The Old Coach Stables in Gunning. The gathering provided a chance to recognise the successful applicants and celebrate the strong partnership between the wind farm and the local community.

One of the standout projects this year comes from K2W Link, whose Citizen Science Roadshow offers an engaging, hands-on environmental science experience. This one-day event equips participants with practical skills in water quality testing, infrared camera trapping, eDNA sampling, and species identification using the NatureMapr app. By taking part, community members contribute valuable data to biodiversity records and conservation efforts, helping to foster a deeper sense of environmental responsibility.

Erin Mulquiny, ACCIONA Energía’s Community Benefits Lead, expressed her enthusiasm for this year’s projects and scholarship winners. She extended warm congratulations to all 2025 recipients and emphasised the program’s positive influence on both individuals and organisations.

“It’s inspiring to see the ongoing impact of the Gunning Wind Farm Small Grants and Scholarship Program,” Mulquiny said. “Each year, we witness how these grants empower people to make meaningful contributions to their community. This initiative is about more than just funding, it’s about building strong connections, supporting vital local projects, and helping our region flourish. We’re proud to be part of that journey.”

Applications for the next round of the Gunning Wind Farm Small Grants and Scholarship Program will open in February 2026.
