Help shape your local renewable energy project

This is your online community hub, where you can ask questions and give us feedback about the project.

ACCIONA Energía’s Ravenswood Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) is our flagship project in Western Australia. Located on Paterson Road, Ravenswood, in the Shire of Murray—about 65 km south of Perth—it sits strategically next to an existing 330kV transmission line on largely cleared, unused land.

The project is designed to include three battery units, each with a capacity of 200MW/800MWh.

The function of the Ravenswood BESS is to receive and store electricity during periods of low energy demand or oversupply and export back to the grid during periods of high demand. The BESS will play a critical role in improving network stability and reducing the need for load shedding.

With the BESS requiring a smaller footprint and no moving parts, the facility’s location has been carefully selected and designed to minimise environmental impacts and preserve surrounding amenity.
