We are proud to have contributed to the Yangan State School's vibrant raised garden beds through our MacIntyre Small Grants Program.

During a recent visit, we were thrilled to see the gardens flourishing. Students present on the day passionately shared how they regularly harvest an array of fresh produce, including carrots, strawberries, and various vegetables.

This initiative not only enhances the school environment but also provides a hands-on learning experience for the children, fostering valuable understanding of food sources and sustainability.

At the heart of this project is Miss Kate Tilbrook, the dedicated Prep and Year 1 teacher, whose passion for gardening and education shines through in every aspect of the garden's set-up and maintenance. Her commitment to teaching students where food comes from instils a sense of responsibility in them to care for the gardens.

Looking ahead, Miss Tilbrook plans to introduce cooking lessons, where students will learn how to prepare meals using the fresh produce they have grown. This initiative promises to be an exciting next step in nurturing both culinary skills and a love for gardening among the students.
